An excellent looking development that appears to be well thought out and planed. Kelowna needs downtown development and in particular rental apartments. Hats off to all involved!!

Jan 31, 2006 - Dave W. - Doc Willoughby's Pub
I was happy to here that Cerco Developments was proposing to develop the properties between Leon and Harvey Avenues and Ethel Street and Gordon Drive. Furthermore, I was excited to learn that this exciting new development was going to include 144 apartments divided amongst four different multi-level buildings.

As an owner of Doc Willoughby’s Downtown Pub and Liquor Store it has been clear to me that the downtown core of Kelowna is really lacking in places to live. Many businesses have recently established in the downtown core only to find that the revitalization of this district is still hampered by a lack of urban living. While I am pleased with new developments such as the Cannery Lofts, Centuria, and the Royal Residence, I believe that we need to do more to encourage responsible building such as that proposed by Cerco Developments.

Yup, this appears to be a great improvement much needed in that area.

Jan 20, 2006 - Michael S. - UBC
LOVE IT, this is just the type of development this town needs

Jan 20, 2006 - Claire K. - Retired
Yes! This looks like a beautiful development and definitely needed in our downtown area. Look forward to seeing it developed.

Jan 20, 2006 - Mark J.
This is a needed development and it will also visually attractive.

Jan 20, 2006 - Deana B.
Wonderful project as we certainly need more upscale rental accomodation and it will certainly clean up that portion of our main highway.
Vote YES YES YES

the Aberdeen Apartments project seems to the ideal type of development to enhance the area near Leon and Harvey. This area is currently rather dismal and lacks the vibrant, positive appeal that is so necessary for down town Kelowna. This project, along with the Lawson Landing project are both the type of thing that will bring not only more people back to the down town area, but will also inspire the confidence in other developers to look at this area, rather than expanding on an already over - developed " strip " along the highway, which as most urban planners would know is very detrimental to the continued development of a city's core. Hopefully, city council will have the wisdom to support both of these developments and will, in the future, support other projects that focus growth in the center of the city, rather than those which add to the urban sprawl, and the consequent using up of agricultural and natural areas surrounding the city of Kelowna. thanks

Looks beautiful, perfect blend for that part of town.

Jan 20, 2006 - Brian P. - Kelowna Resort Accom
Dear City Coucil

In this letter i cast my support for the proposed Aberdeen Apartment complex. That lot really needs cleaning up and I feel That would fit well into the area. I support any Development that will improve the looks of our city. We need to embrace these new progects while we are in a time of growth, It wont last forever.

I fully support projects that increase residential density in the downtown core.

Nov 23, 2005 - Michael S. - student UBC
Love this addition to the city, we need more sustainable growth

Nov 16, 2005 - s y.
great looking buildings in the heart of town what a bonus for Kelowna

Nov 6, 2005 - Suzanne R.
Kelowna is in great need of low cost rentals, hopefully there will be space for community gardens and green space/play areas.

Nov 4, 2005 - gene c.
More affordable housing for suffering Kelownians-how bad can that be?

Nov 3, 2005 - Mark J.
Good looking project, my only suggestions would be to see higher density with at least a 10 story apartment complex. The higher the better as this would create a more visually appealing central city and such developments would reduce the urban sprall wich we need to get away from.

Thanks,
Mark J

I fully support this project. With rental vancancies at an all time low we desperately need more rental homes (apartments). With the amount of students coming to Kelowna with the new university over the next few years will alone fill that place up. It is about time someone developed that piece of property along the highway and no better place for affordable rentals.
The design and height of the buildings are right on. Way to go. A+++++++

Oct 14, 2005 - Matt P.
This developement will provide many low income people, and students with a place to live. It is also certainly better than the empty lots and run down housing along the highway there.

the proximity to downtown and nearby shopping along with being directly by the highway will also prevent traffic congestion.

Sep 20, 2005 - John S.
I do support this project. I realize that it can't be a ritzy design due to the rental aspect and economic realities of building it, but it does provide very much needed affordable housing in a responsible manner. This project will be a great addition to our growing city.

Let it also be know that John Zeger, Chairman of Citizens for Responsible Community Planning and the new ASK political party is AGAINST this affordable housing development due to its height!! And I thought he was for affordable housing???

Sep 14, 2005 - Michael P.
yes finally a large scale rental development that will help reduce homeless situations for people with job's and without job's on social assistance. not too mention will help raise the Vancancy rate so people moving to Kelowna will actually have a place to live in while they look for a place to buy.

The exterior design could use a littel work I think the colours in the rendering are ugly but the overall design looks great

Sep 13, 2005 - kevin D.
Well, I think this is really good. The biggest reason why i'm supporting this is because the area that it will be built at needs some renovation soon... At the moment when I'm driving along the highway(in the middle of town) and I see these old, semi-junky houses beside me, I always think that that area needs to be developed and this is a great start. And with it being a rental developement makes it even better considering kelowna does not have many RENTAL apartments.

Sep 12, 2005 - Duane T.
Do to the lack of rental units in Kelowna; this will be a much needed boost to the City. I do approve of this project and realize that these drawings are only first round drafts just to give the citizens of Kelowna a chance to see what could be built there.

This City will need much more rental housing as we continue to grow. Within the next 5 years we will need at least 5000 more rental units just to accommodate UBCO, let alone the increase of students going to Okanagan College.

We do have to encourage developers to come and built more rental units in Kelowna.

Sep 11, 2005 - Sebastian J.
Looks kind of weird because of the graphics but, I'm sure it will look better once it's built. I think this will be great especially because Kelowna greatly needs more rental units.
