Kelowna 2005 Civic Elections - John Marshall for City Council
Return to Kelowna 2005 Civic Elections Page...
I find myself entered by my peers as their choice for a Kelowna city council candidate. It is due to their overwhelming support and all around positive persuasion that I proudly allow my name to stand.
This year our community finds itself most disheartened, with general lawlessness being more prominent then we all care to see. Our commuting citizens point to a general dissatisfaction with traffic and how it still clogs our daily routines. As well, our
mere maturation into a larger center of commerce sees development as an item to have addressed.
My first three years on Kelowna city council will be spent concentrating on infrastructure, development and decreasing crime. I recognize these being our main issues of the current day. I truly believe that this is not a one
person solve all challenge. Instead, I see a group of issues so important to our community that they cause a desire within to lead your voice, a dedication to taking your directives and seeking final resolutions with strong policies in place.
I will bring to city council a new level of energetic enthusiasm that is so infectious it will be sure to spark positive changes for Kelowna. Members of the public that vote Marshall will benefit from my ability to communicate clearly their views, and
perhaps even persuade my new colleagues on council to see it “our way”. I am persistent, I negotiate fairly and most importantly I make decisions rationally.
I will not shut down Kelowna’s construction. I will not give drug users our city parks and streets. I will not sit all day in traffic. There will be sustainability. There will be police. There will be better transit. When we stop, we go nowhere.
Work does not get done standing still. Together we can build a Kelowna that’s better to breathe, easier to afford and cleaner to live in. A city where we all work and our children don’t move away due to lack of opportunities.
One that encourages free enterprise and new ideas while still remembering to regard and respect our heritage and the efforts put forth before us.
Should any of this strike true to you, than I ask for you to “Follow John…” and vote Marshall for council on November 19th. I look forward to working together with all of you and thank my friends for this opportunity to make a difference.
Thank you, John Marshall.
