Get to Know Jason Rock
I’m 34 years of age and reside in the North Glenmore area with my wife and 4-year old son. Originally from the coast over a decade ago, we choose to live in Kelowna to enjoy a better quality of life. I am a Director of our high-tech hardware/software development company, ACR Systems Inc. Holding a commercial pilots license and instructor rating, I also teach people how to fly and fly for our company. I enjoy many sports and hobbies such as golf, hiking, snowmobiling, flying, woodworking and snowboarding. All my extracurricular activities are well suited to Kelowna's four-season playground.

I enjoy volunteering my time towards community initiatives that will provide a future for our city and our children. With my career and passion in aviation, volunteering for the airports cluster in the Okanagan Partnerships allows my voice to be heard in the attempt to attract the right type of businesses to Kelowna.

I love Kelowna and could not imagine living anywhere else in the world. I’ve experienced living in a number of cities in the Lower Mainland, Southern California and Australia for great lengths of time. I have also visited many other cities in Canada and around the world for both business and pleasure. I must say, many of us do not realize how lucky we are to live in Kelowna today. However, the future for Kelowna, directed by the current Mayor and Council, does not look promising.

Why Jason Rock is Running for Council
There is an ever-growing frustration with city hall. There is ZERO TRANSPARENCY with the decisions being made. When Council was elected last term, they converted part of the city expense accounts to personal wages. Now we cannot see how they are using this money to benefit the city. The Mayor says we would never have an expense controversy such as Mayor Harvey of Vernon did. Of course not! We are unable to use the Freedom Of Information Act to track their “new” expense money. Also, when the Prime Minister came here last year, Council tried to pull a fast one by having the taxpayer double-pay to attend his dinner. In respect to developers, the deals are made with the applicants prior to being brought to city hall for debate. And don’t even ask city hall for any minutes of those meetings, you will get nothing but a bunch of excuses. I believe in listening to the citizens first, then working with the developers to meet the needs of our citizens.

I want to see Kelowna grow in a way that all components are structured in a proper and timely fashion. For instance, if we increase density, our transportation, utilities, police force, and public safety sector must also increase at the same time. Not later, now! And if the city does not invest in all these components at the same time, I do not support the development. We all know that the city loves new tax revenue that helps fix the older expansion areas that were neglected such as Rutland. All new tax revenue today is being used to fix Rutland’s infrastructure that should have been dealt with 10-years ago when Rutland’s community was expanding. If we decide to expand, demand your Council approves immediate expansion of our public safety services, roads, and utilities otherwise, our new developments will be surrounded in gridlock, poor water quality, and more crime.

My Vision for Kelowna
Kelowna is a city where we can live, work, and play. It is a safe community comprised of healthy families, community minded businesses, world class parks and plenty of activities and events for all ages. Kelowna is the envy of all communities across Canada and abroad. We have the same amenities as the larger communities without the social problems.
